European Plastic Pipe Industry Development Trend
- Nov 20, 2018 -

Recently, a report on the European plastics pipe industry has been released. The report pointed out that with the gradual recovery of the construction industry, the trend of the European pipeline market is also getting better. In 2013, the total number of hot and cold water pipes installed in the area was 1.4 million kilometers. About 41% of the various types of pipelines are used in water supply facilities. Other pipelines, such as district heating pipes, are used in floor temperature control systems for surface addition or cooling.

In terms of materials, plastics continue to surpass copper and steel by virtue of its low cost and superior performance, making it the material of choice for pipeline production on the market. At present, the plastic pipe market share is large, and it controls half of the entire pipeline market. Despite this, AMI market analysts said that due to the different performances, the sales of plastic pipes of different materials in various regions of Europe are also uneven.

On the demand side, the sales volume of the European hot and cold water pipeline market during the period of 2007-2013 fell by 25 percentage points. Industry insiders expect that the pipeline trend in the region will be stable in 2014. With the gradual recovery of the economy, the European pipeline market is expected to rebound strongly in 2015.

On the supply side, the current European pipeline industry has not yet formed an effective supply chain. Many producers are decentralized and have no clustering effect. Although there are a large number of powerful multinational companies and local companies in the European pipeline market, in order to reduce the pressure of competition, they all produce different products according to market demand.

According to the report, in order to further cater to the market development trend, European pipeline producers will continue to expand the output of plastic pipes in the next few years. It is predicted that the total output of plastic hot and cold water pipes in the region is expected to reach 700,000 kilometers in 2014. Among them, PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) pipe, PE-RT (heat-resistant polyethylene) pipe, PP-R pipe, C-PVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) pipe, PB (polybutylene) pipe will become this year's plastic Pipeline mainstream products.
